This is a view downhill in the older (northern) half of the cemetery.
Ahead, beyond the northern boundary wall, some of the houses at the southern edge of Renfrew are visible. The small but conspicuous hill that can be seen on the skyline is Dumgoyne (NS5482), about 11 miles away; to its right are slopes that lead up to the plateau of the Campsie Hills.

Arkleston Cemetery
According to Renfrewshire Council's website, the cemetery, which is beside Arkleston Road, opened on the 7th of April 1902. Its present-day northern half corresponds to its original extent, and a stone wall that runs from east to west through the middle of the cemetery indicates the original southern boundary. The area that now makes up the southern half was added to the cemetery before the Second World War.
