Detail, above the entrance, which includes the burning bush LinkExternal link , the Bible open at Exodus Chapter 3 [Verse 2] “And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed” and the Presbyterian motto Ardens sed Virens" – "burning but flourishing".

An ornate redbrick church, at the corner of Castlereagh Street and Upper Frank Street, completed in 1869 to a design by William Hastings. Stair turrets (by William Gilliland) were added to the front in 1886.
