Old Dale Dyke Dam Sheffield - Marker Point
Old Dale Dyke Dam Sheffield - Marker Point
The bursting of Dale Dyke Dam in 1864 caused the great Sheffield flood, killing 244 people. The site of the old dam is now covered by woodland and marked by a simple stone marker engraved "CLOB" (Centre Line of Old Bank). The flood was one of the worst disasters to occur in peacetime in the UK.
