St. Mary's Cathedral, Clayton Street West, NE1
This is the Cathedral Church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle. The architect was A W N Pugin, a national figure and champion of the Gothic Revival style (see the Wiki entry Link
). The church was mainly built in the 1840s, with the tower and spire completed in 1872. Pugin's son added the Clergy House, in Tudor style, in 1869. The set of buildings is Grade I listed Link
