On the evening that the 2013 Hyde Christmas Lights were switched on. The traditional children's carousel that has been situated here for a century was busy in the lead up to the switch on.
Cooke's Children's Carousel

The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897. It was established on Hyde Market in 1919 by John William (Jack) Greaves. In the 1920s he passed it to his daughter Lily and her husband Bill Cooke. It has now been in the Cooke family for three generations.
