Woodland, Parkinson's Park, Guiseley
The woodland area of Parkinson's Park. The line of oaks mark the line of Clapper Brow on the 1838 tithe map, and are thought to have been planted by Jonathan Peate around 1910, maybe for the coronation of King George. Five trees, sycamore and maple, to the right of the picture were planted by Crompton Parkinson's, to 'make up' for the fact the slope was gouged out to make a car park. At the bottom of the slope used to be a spring.
