SK1662 : Plaque near course of Roman Road

taken 6 years ago, 3 km from Heathcote, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Plaque near course of Roman Road
Plaque near course of Roman Road
The Roman road (The Street) ran between Buxton (Aquae Arnemetiae) and Derventio (Little Chester, near Derby). My schoolboy Latin (O-level, failed) translated the rest of the sign as "this way care personnel roads not received". Clearly rubbish, and I'm grateful for the more learned geographer SK1662 : A plaque in the wall who translates it as "The road menders have not taken care of this road"
