The inscription reads:
IN PROUD MEMORY OF
THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THIS TOWN
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES AT
THE CALL OF THEIR COUNTRY
IN THE YEARS SINCE 1945
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
Denton War Memorial stands in Victoria Park, near to the Victoria Street entrance. It commemorates the sacrifice of the 379 men of Denton and Haughton who lost their lives during the Great War. It was unveiled on 23 July 1921.
On each of the four sides, there are four steps leading up to the memorial. At the front, the dates 1914 and 1918, surrounded by wreathes, are either side of a panel of names. (Link- Roll of Honour)
Above, on the central column, it states:
'In grateful and undying remembrance of those who gave their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918. This memorial has been erected by their fellow townsmen July 1921'
