Markham Grange Steam Museum - beautiful engine
This 1909 Pollit & Wigzell horizontal tandem compound mill engine from Washpit Mill near Holmfirth - SE1406 : Agnes and Herbert, Washpit Mills is one of my favourite engines. It was the second engine I saw working in anger and I visited the mill many times, often after school, until the engine stopped in 1980. It was then kept in good order and run occasionally for another decade or so. I last saw it in 1996, not long before its guardian died and it was removed to Markham Grange steam Museum.
