St Mary’s was built in 1857 as a private place of worship for the Thomas Riddell family and was part of Felton Hall, which came into the family at the turn of the 18th Century, and was known then as the Roman Catholic Church of St Mary.
Now it is a former Roman Catholic Church. The church does not contain a graveyard and still remains in private ownership although it has been deconsecrated in recent years.
