Italian Chapel, Lamb Holm, Orkney Islands
It was built in 1943 and 1944 by Italian Prisoners of War during the second world war, starting with two Nissen huts. The Visit Scotland website LinkExternal link has a detailed account of the way padre Father Giacobazzi and Domenico Chiocchetti progressively improved the decoration and religious artefacts, mainly using scrap materials.
