High tide on the River Usk.
At the lower left is Uskmouth power station which, fuelled by coal and biomass, is one of the cleanest coal fired stations in the UK.
Newport Transporter Bridge: winter shutdown.

As the bridge is now being treated as a tourist attraction by the city council rather than as part of Newport’s transport infrastructure, it is now only open during the spring and summer months.

The gondola is parked a short distance from the west bank of the River Usk during the shutdown period.
The bridge is on the route of both National Cycle Route 4 Link and the Wales Coast Path Link .
When it is closed, there is an alternative route upriver that crosses the River Usk via the City Bridge Link .
It is a Grade I Listed structure.
