Trees by Marsh Meadow, Cookham
Growing on the bank on the right are a number of hornbeams and - beyond them - a pollard willow. Seen from a point close to the south-east corner of the former sewage works site.
A distinctive feature of hornbeams in leaf is the layering of the foliage. The tendency to spread in the horizontal plane can be seen in this winter photograph - and results in a silhouette quite unlike that of the willow further along the bank.
