TQ3482 : Derelict land next to Fleet Street Hill
taken 10 years ago, near to Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets, England
Derelict land next to Fleet Street Hill
This derelict land is next to a pathway leading from Allen Gardens under the London Overground line and then alongside it to Fleet Street Hill and Pedley Street. The arch in the middle of the photograph over Fleet Street Hill is an isolated part of what remains of the old viaduct into Bishopsgate Goods Yard. Most of the viaduct to the west was demolished between 2003 and 2004 to make way for Shoreditch High Street station on London Overground which now stands on the site - see
Link The London Overground line is just behind where I am standing. To the left of the arch some steps lead up and over the main lines into Liverpool Street station, via the bridge which can be seen, and beyond to Cheshire Street. See also

Colourful as the graffiti is during the day I would not want to venture down here at night. This part of Tower Hamlets is also the street art capital of London. A web site has been created which includes walks and photographs taking in some of the best examples - see
