Milton Firing Range and Eastcourt Marshes
Milton Firing Range and Eastcourt Marshes
This is the view from the Saxon Shore Way. The Saxon Shore Way follows Kent's ancient coastline, which in many places is now miles inland. The Saxon Shore Way is named after the line of historic fortifications that defended the Kent coast at the end of the Roman era. It is 160 miles long and runs from Gravesend to Hastings.
Here it heads out of Gravesend through Milton and Denton and this is the first section beyond the built-up area. It follows the riverbank and comes alongside Eastcourt Marshes and Milton Firing Range. For more information about the firing range see Link
In this photograph the hill on the horizon in the centre is at High Halstow on the Hoo Peninsula.
