Mud flats at Leigh-on-Sea
Mud flats at Leigh-on-Sea
The tide goes out to reveal the mud flats that attract thousands of wading birds to this rich feeding ground in Winter. The ever-changing seascape is part of Two Tree Island, a conservation area which is managed by Essex Wildlife Trust. Just visible on the skyline in the late afternoon light is Thames Gateway, Britain's newest port complex.
