Strathnaver Parish Church
According to Nick Thomson's "Corrugated iron buildings" (Shire, 2011, pp 28-9), this corrugated iron church at Syre was erected in 1891 as a Free Church mission, to serve the scattered community of shepherds and ghillies in these remote Sutherland hills, and was probably produced by the Glasgow firm of Frederick Braby, as the detail of the roof ridge matches examples shown in their catalogue of 1893. But Scotland's Churches Trust LinkExternal link date it ten years later to 1901 and state that it was established as a mission station from Altnaharra, prefabricated by Speirs and Co of Glasgow.

Whatever its precise date, the building is listed Category C LinkExternal link
