In later years part of the church, the building in the middle was built as the caretaker’s residence and was, reputedly, the smallest house in Belfast.

Gt Victoria Street Baptist church, at the corner of Hope Street, was completed in 1866 to a design by William Hastings (who also designed the (now demolished) synagogue, of 1871, in the same street,). There is the following application for planning permission: “1499/F Great Victoria Street Baptist Church, 66 Great Victoria Street, Belfast Demolition of Great Victoria Street Baptist Church, refurbishment of church facade and construction of temporary surface level private car park for church use”. The DoE website discloses that permission was given on 29 August 2012.
There is currently (January 2014) an application (Z/2014/0005/F) an application for planning permission to extend the date for use of the site as a temporary car park.
