TQ8285 : Waiting for the tide
taken 9 years ago, near to Leigh-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Great Britain

Waiting for the tide
The Leigh-on-Sea cockle boats still go out most days, Summer and Winter, to hoover up their catch from the Thames Estuary. The day's activities for the fishermen is dominated by the ebb and flow of the tide. When the channel reaches a certain tidal level, off they go. Hours later, on the next incoming tide, they return to unload their catch.
