St Michael's Abbey church
Following the exile of Emperor Napoleon III and his family from France they took residence in Chislehurst, Kent. Following the death of the Emperor in 1873 his wife, Empress Eugenie, bought a house in Farnborough, Hampshire, and in the grounds commissioned the construction of Saint Michael's Abbey whose church would also be a mausoleum for her husband, and son, Louis.
