The speed limits between Holywood and Bangor are enforced, inter alia, by the use of fixed average-speed cameras J4079 : Speed Camera, Holywood [2] and J4880 : The Belfast Road near Clandeboye, Bangor. A stretch of road opened in 1972 (and then called the Holywood through pass), on the Belfast – Bangor road, from near Palace Barracks to the Croft Road.
