In the centre is the gabled rear of a modest 17th/18th-century house on Castle Gate. The slate headstone shown in SK5739 : St Nicholas's churchyard: headstone of Abel Collin is against the wall of the outbuilding. A February day which began with bright sunshine had clouded over by mid afternoon.
