SD4863 : Temporary dam, Lancaster Canal

Temporary dam, Lancaster Canal
The canal has been temporarily closed for installation of a culvert, which will run under the canal into the River Lune. This is part of the Heysham - M6 link road project.
A short section of canal has been drained between 2 temporary dams using portable pumps. This is the "northern" dam. (See SD4863 : Lancaster Canal closure, taken a week earlier.)
Water is also being pumped (or syphoned?) across the gap, to maintain the water supply to the canal and locks further south.
