Fauld crater a stern warning to the visitor-Hanbury, Staffs
At one time, the Fauld Crater site was locally known as 'the bomb hole' and, hard to believe, it was a favourite play area for local children. The walker EJS - Jack Schatz - some years ago described in his Birmingham Evening Mail 'Weekend Walk' feature a walk he had undertaken in which he followed a path down into and through the crater. This Geographer wishes he had visited then, before warning signs and chain link fence sprouted around the site. Taken at 10.54 am BST (British Summer Time).
