Old Alstom railway works at Washwood Heath
Old Alstom railway works at Washwood Heath
I've titled this "Old Alstom railway works ... " but a brief interweb search tells me that it was actually the Metro Cammell works and that they built everything from tanks to bus bodies to trains, culminating in the building of Pendolino class 390s before final closure in 2005. There's more info at LinkExternal link
I visited in 2008: at that time, the old works buildings were being used for storage and I took an articulated lorry load of pallets in for one of the units. Fortuitously I'd just been given a Pentax K1000 by one of my colleagues so was able to get this picture.
