SO3384 : Shropshire lane at Lower Down
taken 9 years ago, near to Lower Down, Shropshire, Great Britain

Shropshire lane at Lower Down
This hamlet has two farms and ten cottages, is the site of a castle mound and a mediaeval farmstead. The 16th century Lower Down Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building, being listed on 2nd June 1985. Nearby on Sunnyhill is Bury Ditches Iron Age hillfort with a car park and described walks. Lower Down seems to be a quiet, little-visited spot where probably the scene has not changed very much for many years. There are some rental cottages but no shop or post office and maybe by now no phone box either. Time taken 5.25 pm BST (British Summer Time).
