Ross on Wye
This is pretty much the classic view of Ross on Wye, as espoused by Joseph Turner, the artist. Ross (apparently) was the birthplace of the British tourist industry and is still the only town in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The dramatist Dennis Potter is from Ross and actress Noele Gordon (of "Crossroads" fame) is buried at St. Mary's church which is centre right of the picture. And two members of Mott the Hoople met at Ross Grammar School and formed their first band there. I never knew that.
