Askam Pier
Askam Pier
The north side of the pier near the end, which presumably was used as a quay. The timbers would protect ships from the rough surface of the slag used to build the pier. During the later years, the steelworks had to import iron ore since local sources had run out.
It's hazy today. so there's no view of the Lakeland Fells in the distance.
