NZ2940 : Route of old railway across field

taken 5 years ago, near to Shincliffe, County Durham, Great Britain

Route of old railway across field
Route of old railway across field
The railway route lies to the north of the village of Shincliffe. The clump of trees at the centre of the image is at the end of a severed railway embankment which it is assumed would previously have crossed the field. The rail route then would have followed the route of what is now a footpath from which the image was recorded. Presumably once the railway was closed the landowner/farmer removed the embankment to create more agricultural land.
