Costessey Pits
Costessey Pits consists of three old gravel workings of various sizes and are currently used by Anglian Water to supply water to Norwich and the surrounding area. Pit 1 is also referred to as 'the Greenhouse' which is the smallest of the three pits. This lake has an unusual surface plant that drifts around in the wind, with its 'pineapple tops' making life difficult for anglers. The other two are called 'Ski pit' and 'Pit 3'. The Ski pit is used by two water ski clubs who have installed a ski jump and roped the middle of the lake through its distance as a slalom course.
