Archaeological excavation at an old Ferintosh distillery
The North of Scotland Archaeological Society has worked for around five years excavating one of the mini-distilleries of Ferintosh. Much has been covered again to stop erosion by sheep etc. In March 2014 a round building described as a Kiln contains all the stone that now lies open to the elements. The whole area is clearly a maze of old foundations and shows that the area surrounding was once a busy community. Ferintosh was famous for its official duty-free whisky.
