SZ2093 : Detail of Highcliffe Castle

Detail of Highcliffe Castle
This elaborate balustrade at Highcliffe Castle bears the inscription 'SUAVE MARI MAGNO TURBANTIBUS OEQUORA VENTIS E TRRA MAGNUM ALTERIUS SPECTARE RELABOREM'. My Latin is non-existent but I believe it translates along the lines of 'it is sweet to look upon the sea from the land and watch another's great struggle'.
