Poplars at Cold Ash, Berkshire
This is the plantation of poplars seen nearly 3 years on from SU5270 : Young poplars on Westrop Farm – an addition to some valuable ancient woodland. The trees are quite tall now (they grow around 6 feet a year), and densely packed - perhaps about 2 metres apart, which seems to be normal.

Poplar wood is used, among other things, for paper (from pulp), matches, Camembert boxes and electric guitars...
