War of the Worlds
War of the Worlds
When H.G. Wells wrote 'The War of the Worlds' he sited the first landing of the Martians at Horsell Common, just outside of Woking. This statue, by Michael Condron, of one of the Martian Tripods, erected in 1988, celebrates the 100 year centenary of the book. Refer to picture TQ0058 : H.G. Wells & Woking for details relating to the plaque beneath the statue.
