SU7048 : Bidden floods

Bidden floods
The road running between Upton Grey and North Warnborough roughly follows the course of a winter bourn that becomes the infant River Whitewater. In the winter of 2013-14, the road became the bourn.
The water table rose above the level of the tarmac, which in many places was ruptured by bubbling springs. The damage was considerable, and in mid February the road was closed. The closure, though, has been marked as much in the breach as the observance, and in late March, there is no date for its reopening.
No one in Upton Grey can remember such an event happening before.
