I think this is the first time I have seen rice growing in Britain, even in a glasshouse.
Oxford Botanic Garden

The botanic garden has its origins as far back as 1621 but acquired its present name in 1840 and its present extent of 2 hectares in 1945. It is one of the constituent parts of Oxford University; an entry fee is charged to most adult visitors but current students are exempt and Oxford alumni get a discount.
