Former Hockley Bus Garage (1)
Taken in August 2006, this photo shows the former bus garage in Whitmore Street B18 5BE, which had closed on Saturday 28th May 2005. It was originally a tramcar depot having been acquired from Handsworth Urban District Council, but was converted to a bus garage on the 2nd April 1939. Birmingham City Transport used to operate bus routes to the northwest of the city from this garage, although it was owned by Travel West Midlands at the time of its closure. Apart from a side wall, this garage has since been demolished and a meeting venue built on this site.
