Atmospheric Pollution April 2014

During the first week of April 2014, the Met. Office issued air pollution warnings for much of the south east, the midlands and east anglia.
This was caused by south easterly winds carrying pollution from continental europe and trapping our own domestic pollution.
In addition, sand storms in the Sahara Desert contributed to the mix, and orange dust hung in the air and fell onto surfaces, showing up particularly well on cars.
At risk groups like elderly people and asthmatics were warned to stay indoors, or if they went outside, not to participate in strenuous exercise.
