Cairn Valley Light Railway, Dumfriesshire

A selection of images of the Cairn Valley Light Railway remains.

The 17.5 mile long railway between Dumfries and Moniaive was opened in March 1905, closed to passengers in May 1943 and to freight a few years later, in July 1949.

There are limited remains; at Moniaive, the station building and some remains of the goods shed are still extant (although the latter was badly damaged by fire on 19 August 2012).
