Dungeness National Nature Reserve

Dungeness has been designated as a National Nature Reserve (NNR), Special Protection Area (SPA) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). It is home to 600 species of plants which is a third of all plants found in the UK. The National Nature Reserve stretches across Dungeness to encompass the vast RSPB reserve and is intended to help protect the landscape and its wildlife.
The RSPB's oldest existing nature reserve, was created on old gravel extraction pits where the left over lagoons attract vast numbers of migratory birds from the continent.
See LinkExternal link and LinkExternal link for more details on the National Reserve and the RSPB Reserve.

Ankle permitting, Sherpa Basher is back!

After a lengthy lay-off with a terrible ankle injury I am starting out with a few brief jaunts along the flat. Setting off from our guest home we headed towards a pub that served legendary fisn'n'chips: they did not disappoint!
