NR4748 : Eilean a' Chùirn lighthouse
taken 10 years ago, near to Eilean a' Chùirn [other Features], Argyll And Bute, Great Britain
Before going to Islay on holiday I had a look at which squares still required to be captured for the project - and discovered that most of them were outlying rocks and islets off the southern coast. So, I chartered a boat and a skipper and dragging my family along with me, we set off on an island and rock photographing mission which took about two hours and was highly enjoyable (for me at least). These "green" squares (i.e. ones yet to be Geographed) are getting rarer and trickier by the day! Good fun bagging them though.
I have set the grid reference for this shared description as Port Ellen (NR3645) as this is where the boat sails from.
I hired the boat from Islay Sea Adventures Link and we had a very helpful and informative skipper. I think it made a change for him to do this expedition rather than the usual fishing trips!
