In the present picture, a line of boulders, partly turf-covered, and receding directly from the photographer's position, is part of the boundary of the outer enclosure of the fort.
The picture was taken at a point on the fort's south-western edge, where the line of the outer enclosure is crossed by a path ascending the hill (NS3779 : Path leading up Carman Hill): NS3779 : Carman Hill-fort: path crossing line of outer enclosure.
