Carman Hill-fort: line of inner enclosure
See NS3779 : Ancient hill-fort on Carman Hill for the main description of the hill-fort. Click on the end-note title for related pictures, and see the annotated satellite view linked from the end-note as an index to these pictures and their positions in the fort.
The present picture is a view eastwards along the southern part of the boundary of the inner enclosure, represented by a ridge receding directly from the photographer's position, and gradually curving to the left. The ridge itself is considerably less visible here than it is on the western side (NS3779 : Carman Hill-fort: line of inner enclosure / NS3779 : Carman Hill-fort: line of inner enclosure). Nevertheless, there is still a clearly visible contrast between the more grassy interior and the rougher ground outside.
Part of NS3778 : Carman Reservoir can be seen in the right background.
See NS3779 : Carman Hill-fort: line of inner enclosure for a view in the opposite direction along the same southern section of the boundary.
