Leeds Castle
Leeds Castle is a moated castle, near Maidstone in Kent. The building consists of three parts, each with its own entrance, drawbridge, gateway, and portcullis.
The origins of Leeds Castle date back to 1119 when Robert De Crevecoeur built the original castle. In 1278 it was the home of King Edward I of England and queen Eleanor of Castile and the castle was significantly remodelled. Much of the castles present-day appearance were from changes that were made during this time.
