Brecon Mountain Railway revived 2 - Pant, Mid Glamorgan
The southern terminus of the Brecon Mountain Railway, 1ft 11 3/4 ins gauge, at Pant, 3 miles north of Merthyr Tydfil. This photo was taken on the day of a mv (motor vessel) Balmoral tour from Lydney to Penarth via Clevedon. The revival of this line - the Brecon - Merthyr Railway which existed from 1859 - 1964 was suggested some years ago. At the date of the photo the terminus was at Pontsticill but in 1995 it was extended to Dol-y-Gaer and more recently to the summit at Torpantau - 1313ft. Passenger services to Torpantau are due to start this year - 2014. Time taken not available.
