Smashed groynes at Cuckmere Haven
Smashed groynes at Cuckmere Haven
The foreground in this photo shows smashed groynes near the coastguard cottages at Cuckmere Haven and indicates the high energy nature of this location. In the middle distance, a shingle spit has formed at mouth of the River Cuckmere. This spit has resulted from the deposition of flint pebbles which have been transported by longshore drift and then deposited there. The spit is shaped by water movement.
