King John's Castle
King John's Castle
King John's Castle was built on the shore of the River Shannon in 1210. It is one of the finest medieval structures in all of Ireland. The castle and the adjoining barracks were the scene of heavy fighting in the Irish Civil War from 11 July to 19 July, 1922.
