Statue of Edward Colston
Statue of Edward Colston
Statue of Edward Colston (1636 1721) in The Centre in Bristol. He was an English merchant and Member of Parliament. In recent years Colston's links with the slave trade has become controversial and in April 2017 a nearby Bristol theatre announced they are to rename the venue due to the name 'Colston' being 'Toxic'. The statue was erected in 1895; the sculptor was John Cassidy of Manchester.

The statue is Grade II listed, for more information on the statue and the life of Edward Colston see: LinkExternal link
