The original building stood in Pillory Street and is now used as the Nantwich Museum. It was decided to have a library in the town in August 1887 and by 1888 donations had reached £1220. The library was officially opened by John Brunner in December 1888 with 3000 volumes. This, the present library building, stands in Beam Street by the bus station.
