Aller Moor Pumping Station - Southlake drainage engine
Aller Moor Pumping Station - Southlake drainage engine
When I took this the former land drainage pumping at Allermoor had two preserved off-site engines in the former boiler house. This unusual inverted vertical duplex engine driving a closed casing centrifugal pump was built in 1869 by Eastons, Amos & Anderson of London and used at Southlake pumping station. The slide valve cylinders are 10" x 15" and it generated about 30 horsepower at 100 rpm on steam at 40 psi.

It is now in store at Westonzoyland Pumping Station and this building has been converted to a house.
